Sleep Disorder Services
Sleep is a crucial part of living a healthy life style. Many sleep conditions, such as sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome and narcolepsy can be diagnosed through a sleep evaluation. The team of board-certified sleep medicine physicians and registered sleep technologists at the Sleep Center at Salem Hospital use advanced monitoring techniques to detect, diagnose and treat sleep disorders.
If your physician feels that you are a candidate for a sleep study, your name and information will be sent to our Sleep Navigator. After reviewing insurance coverage and preexisting health conditions, our sleep navigator will determine the type of sleep study that is best for you. If an appointment with one a pulmonary and sleep physicians is needed, our navigator can also help set this up.
Sleep Center
Our pulmonologists work closely with the Sleep Center, which is located on Macomber 5 at Salem Hospital. The Sleep Center offers hotel-style rooms that provide comfort and privacy. During your stay your breathing and movement will be monitored and recorded, After the sleep study is complete, your physician will follow-up care with you.
Home Sleep Testing
Depending on insurance and medical conditions, home sleep testing is available for some patients. This tests monitors breathing and oxygen levels and records pauses in your breathing known as apneas, while you sleep in the comfort of your own home. The information gathered during the test provides our sleep medicine physicians with the information he or she needs to diagnose sleep disorders and prepare you for appropriate treatment.
Pulmonary Services
Our physicians provide inpatient pulmonary consultations at Salem Hospital and work closely with hospitalist physicians to evaluate, diagnose and treat pulmonary disorders. Critically ill patients are cared for by our physicians and the critical care team in the intensive care unit at Salem Hospital. This unit provides state-of-the-art care for patients with respiratory failure and multi-system disease.
Critical Care Services
Patients with respiratory failure and multi-system diseases are cared for by our physicians and critical care teams in the intensive care units at Salem Hospital.
